Enrolling Your Student: What You Need to Know
NEW STUDENTS (K-8TH)

The applications for new students grades K-8th will be open starting January 9th, 2026. In order for your student to be considered for the program please complete:
- The online application: You will complete the initial registration to create an account. You will then receive an email with a link to the application. The email comes from Horizons National- check your spam if you don't see it.
- Upload a completed Physicians Clearance Form signed by your child's doctor.
Completed applications and clearance forms must be submitted by March 6th, 2026. Parents will be notified if your student is accepted via email in late March. Horizons serves students that meet our income eligibility guidelines based on the federal poverty levels and household size- see below for more information.

Eligibility
Horizons students bring a broad range of academic ability and skills to our program. Students must meet the following eligibility requirements to be enrolled in Horizons:
- Have completed Kindergarten and are at least 5 years of age before the first day of the summer program; are currently in grades K-8th.
- Meet the household income eligibility requirements based on family size and annual income- these guidelines are similar to free/reduced lunch eligibility.
- Families will provide the number of persons in the household and annual gross income information in the online application to demonstrate eligibility.
- Students must attend Savannah Chatham County (or adjacent county) public schools. Students that transfer to private schools after initial enrollment in the Horizons program will still be able to participate.
- Students must reside full time in the Chatham, Effingham, and Bryan or other nearby counties at the discretion of the Executive Director.
- Our policy requires all students to be age-appropriately immunized
with all the required vaccines BEFORE a student can attend our program. We do not accept religious exemptions.
Income Eligibility Chart- Your Family's Annual Gross (before taxes and deductions) Household Income must be BELOW the limits on this chart based on family size to participate in our program. See the table below to identify the sources of income you should include in your calculations. Please list your income and family size on your application. Horizons reserves the right to ask for income documentation as needed.
