Volunteer

Volunteers are a critical component of our programming year-round. There are multiple opportunities for our older students and also members of the community to get involved and support our efforts:

HORIZONS YOUTH VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Youth Volunteers are vital to the success of our summer program. We encourage students ages 15+ to give back to their community. Volunteering with Horizons Savannah gives students the opportunity to learn skills in youth development and job readiness, demonstrate skills such as responsibility and cooperation, serve as role models for other youth, and to practice good work habits.

Youth Volunteers are asked to commit to 60 hours of volunteer service during the summer.  Youth Volunteers are given preference for future paid opportunities with Horizons. Students must complete a Youth Volunteer Application, a background check and attend an in person training session.

LITERACY VOLUNTEERS [New]

Literacy Volunteers from our community are a key component of both our Summer program and the Early Literacy Book Clubs we provide in elementary schools in the school district. Volunteers will spend an hour with their kindergarten or 1st grade students to instill a love of reading.
